A sales funnel is pointless without great lead generation methods

When you start working online, you'll quickly learn that you need a proper sales funnel set up in order to capture as many clients as possible.  If you're not trying to set up a sales funnel, you're already one step behind your competitors, but having a bad lead generation method sets you back even further since your website won't profit much at all.

Setting up the funnel and tweaking it to perfection isn't the difficult part of all this, it's getting the right people to your website in order to turn them into a sale and profit.  Sure, you can buy a traffic package and get 100,000 people to your website for $200, but do you think that the traffic you're purchasing will actually convert into a sale?  Probably not, and that's because the traffic in those packages is 99.9% fake which will never turn into a sale.  Sure, you could purchase those types of traffic packages and actually make a sale, but most of the time that sale will not come from the traffic package you purchased and it will likely be from something else you're trying.  So, to play it safe you should focus on quality traffic and lead generation methods and ignore the cheap ones that seem too good to be true because they are.

Below are a few things you should focus on before you start your online sales journey, and they are:

Your funnel should be set up before you generate leads
When you're bringing in traffic in hopes of turning them into sales, you'll want to make sure your funnels are set in place and working before you actually do anything.  If your funnels are ready for your traffic, you'll likely lose a decent amount of conversions, and that's not something you'd want if you're trying to profit from your website like most people are.

A sales funnel isn't actually that difficult to set up.  All you're doing is funneling people to your sales pages, without taking advantage or spamming them, in order for them to make a purchase.  They need to feel like they've landed on your sales page because of their own decisions, but in reality, you're the one who pushed them there lol A sales funnel is pointless without great lead generation methods

Your leads need to be high quality to actually convert
Some people purchase traffic packages on a large scale because they think it will convert into a lot of sales, but in reality, it's fake traffic that never converts, which means you're just wasting money.  What you'll need to do is stop trying to take the easy road and actually harvest leads yourself or put some money into a PPC campaign and tweak it to perfection so you get some great traffic coming in that will likely turn into a sale.

Low-quality leads are ones that come to your website from a randomly sent out email that might be obscure to the person reading it.  Other low-quality leads are when you post an ad on a general website and hope to get niche specific leads to your website, which will never actually happen.

You need to focus on niche specific advertising and content creation in order to boost your lead quality.

You might have to pay more for leads
When it comes to your PPC campaigns, like mentioned above, you might have to pay a premium when it comes to actually getting people to your website that will actually want what you have for sale.  Think about it, if you were to set up an ad at $0.05 per click and the national average is $2.00, you won't get much of quality when it comes to your clicks.  This is because you will likely be running a general campaign, that isn't super targeted, and you're now getting traffic from 3rd world countries that likely can't afford your product or service in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, 3rd world countries do spend money online, but they need to be able to afford what you're selling and that means anything in USD or British Pounds might be out of their pay range since our currency value is much higher.  Target specific 1st world countries and don't worry about the amount of traffic you're getting compared to when you targeted 3rd world countris, because you're now getting traffic that is 10x more likely to convert A sales funnel is pointless without great lead generation methods

Always capture an email when generating leads
If you're not trying to capture any emails from people visiting your website, you're already failing because you have no one to advertise to for free in the long run.  Think about it, you can capture 10,000 emails and send out newsletters to them every week, possibly turning 10% of them into returning customers.  If you were generating 100 sales a week, you're not doing 110 with your email list, and that number will only grow with each sign up you get.

In conclusion
Sales funnels aren't difficult to set up, they just take time to tweak in order to make perfect for your audience.  You'll need to push people to your sales pages without making it seem like you're forcing them there, they need to think they landed on your products on their own, and this is the most difficult part about it.  Your leads need to be high quality, which means you need to avoid traffic packages and pay a little more for a PPC campaign that is super targeted in order to get people in that will actually purchase from you.  If you can do all of this, you'll have a successful website A sales funnel is pointless without great lead generation methods

From what I have learned from the Google analytics academy. The funnels often have leaks. And it often pays to look for the proper data collection. That way we can learn what is working and what may not work. Some of the options make you work on small details. And like say funnel exits can be covered from the data. So depending on the goal and the traffic sources, we can decide what is causing the leak. Lead generation is one of the trial and error thing to learn.

This reminds me of a colleague in the earlier days of the website that he was monitoring the traffic in his personal website. There were more than 100 visitors everyday but a vast majority of his visitors are from Africa. Take note that we are in Asia so what is the reason why Africans are enamored to his website? One explanation was that some Africans are also doing a test of their browser and probably that personal website was one of the targets. But in terms of real traffic, those visitors from Africa have no value.

I think monitoring the traffic and learning from the trend works. Because let's say you get traffic from the quora. And if you get it on regular basis. You can optimize it for more articles and the videos from there to your own website. So it all depends on how we monitor and expect the traffic to convert through our actions.

You need traffic to generate sales, however, when it comes to generating sales the quality of traffic matters. If you are paying for traffic, your traffic may not convert because these are usually bot traffic or people clicking on your links all day long for little reward.
PPC campaign on facebook or adword is better way to generate traffic. Google has more than 65 percent market coverage. When you advertise with Adword, you can reach a huge customer base. This is also true with facebook ads.

Generating traffic via social media sites such as facebook and twitter have brought greater success than some of the paid traffic which is the reason when I take a look at what ia happening with some sites that try the other methods, you get to see that they are not getting the type of results that they desire.

I agree with this. Way back, I used to have an online job where I'm paid to click on sites and view their sites for a small percentage of the ad's revenue. This just goes to show that companies are willing to shell out money for traffic. I've noticed that social media also gets the same kind of traffic so I get that's how the job slowly died out. Was it worthwhile though? Not really but I was just looking for another additional source of income.

Who doesn't know what the benefits of social media is doing today in the generation of traffic and lead for one's online business. All you have to do is have the best penetration strategy to enter the social media and generate traffic for your website as much as possible because those traffic are what's actually turned into sales when it comes to doing online business.

It does not hurt a lot sometimes to do have some form of social media marketing for your content. I mean in many instances you will have fewer people that you want get your message if you do not target them. It is not your circle of friends that will form the largest client base and you have to acknowledge this.

I think the traffic has to be good enough for the conversion. And another thing is that lead generation methods have it's own set of the limits. I think lead generation often has it's limits. I have seen that experimenting always helps. Sometimes people do convert if the page is good. But it's kind of effort people have to take as well.

I was actually having this conversation with a friend some time ago and we were looking at bought traffic and how important that it is when you are looking at making sales via your website. There are a few of them that are real which is good, but majority is auto generated which will never turn into sales. So, it is necessary that we see the need to have a good time with what we are looking at when the situation of having a quality sales funnel is involved.

I'm never comfortable with paid traffic. It's not that they are not good but for the fact that such traffic can't be trusted 100% when it comes to being consistent unlike when you work with organic traffic. The only problem is that organic traffic takes time to build unlike how fast it is with paid traffic.

True organic traffic can take a lot of time. Building up the audience and actually converting them can be difficult and the option of sales funnels sometimes yields desirable results.

For me, it is better that I keep the wait and work on building better organic traffic on my site since this is one way that you can get to make more conversions at the end of the day.

I know of this aspect and have encoutered it with numerous websites. You may not always get what you pay for since some traffic is generated legitimately. However in a business its all about trying out strategies that work and moving on. If you set aside a budget for advertisement amd gou fail to get returns after some period with sales funnels then you can investigate their legitimacy.

That is unfortunate, you'll pay for that and they'll give you auto-generated now I know that we should be careful in purchasing traffic online.

I appreciate how you mentioned about making sure not to spam the clients you are trying to funnel to your sales page. People don't feel good or fancy getting spammed at all in any way whatsoever, personally I hate it to my guts, so I try as much as possible to eliminate any possible spams completely when trying to push clients to my sales page.

This is 100% my thoughts, too. If I feel like I'm getting spammed from a business, it usually causes me to unsubscribe from every possible communication method they offer. I like being in the loop, but when I feel like I'm getting an excessive amount of correspondence it just ends up being annoying!

In my opinion Paid Traffic is Fake Traffic, it's only use is tied up to rankings but when it comes to conversions you need hot and legit traffic which you can get by creating funnels. Social Media Platforms are great places to create your funnels.

I agree with you but there are paid traffic that doesn't care about retaining customers, but for the pure intention of earning money. Like I posted above, I've worked for a Paid to Click site before and the kind of sites they try to let people click to are these half-assed blogs/article sites full of ads. I'm guessing both the referrer and the referree gets a cut out of the ads that's why they're driving traffic to them.

Pardon me but I don’t have the intention to pay for traffic. With the SEO methods that I have learned in this forum I’m sure it will help me get good traffic for my site. However, SEO work is not that easy because it is a chore that should be done regularly especially when you are talking about good contents of your site. Nevertheless, doing SEO work is worth the time and effort if you have a small site with little expectations.

Whatever floats your boat. SEO takes time to realize the results and if you're really short on cash, then sure find other means like social media. It really depends on the owner if he/she is willing to do SEO as it's not really the sure and only way to be optimized in search engines. Just because you used SEO work doesn't mean you're going to succeed immediately.
