I've been using PayPal for a decade now and I'm looking for another payment portal as a contingency.
Paypal offers solid buyer protection and easy ways to receive payment (such as when working online as a freelancer).
You can transfer funds from Paypal to bank or have a check mailed.
The biggest downside is that some had their accounts locked by Paypal for no reason.
Also, Paypal is not available in some countries for use.
What are the most reliable Payment Portals being used nowadays?
For me Payoneer is great, it takes less currency conversion fees compare to PayPal.

It maybe great but it's not really included as a payment method in most of the online jobs, PayPal is the leading when it comes to financial transactions, PayPal was founded on December 1998 so they've been in the industry for a while now, and almost all of the companies online have a PayPal payment method and so far I don't have any issues with my PayPal account and my transcations on it.
I think paypal pretty much dominates most of the market when it comes to doing financial transactions online, such as sending invoices, receiving funds, etc. The system works quite well, and there's very little hassle. In my opinion, it is the best way to receive money.
I agree. Paypal is a very secure and accessible service. I still use it right now. I get my funds easily. I don't have to worry about risks since it has high security features.
Paypal is the best way to send and receive money online. sadly, Paypal is not available in my home country. There are many countries where paypal is not available. The alternative method for getting payment online is payoneer. When you get payoneer account, you also get a payoneer plastic card which you can use at your local ATM. However, not many companies have payoneer as a payment system. There was a time when paypal accepted payoneer card and the bank account given by payoneer. You could easily withdraw paypal funds to payoneer bank or card, however, this option has been disabled now.
Paypal is very integrated with most retailers or sources of income online, so it's the easiest by far to use. I've heard that there are other methods that don't charge you as much per transaction, but they're just not a ubiquitous as Paypal, unfortunately.
Yes, paypal is very secure right now, don't have to worry a single thing except for the password. I had difficulties to get a new password.
Passwords are easy to save. Just have a separate copy on a piece of paper or something. Also, remember how to have a password reset in case anything happens.
I dont have complain in terms of paypal service but sometimes they overcharged it.
I also agree. PayPal is so easy to use. But the problem is, my G cash could not link with my pay pal account.
I definitely have to agree with you here. I think that PayPal pretty much set the standard when it comes to sending and receiving money on the internet. It's one of those situations where something is often imitated but never duplicated. I've used other services online but none of them match the convenience of PayPal.
That being said, it's not without its flaws. The biggest issue is that many countries (mainly those ranked lower in terms of their global economic status), while recognized by PayPal, still lack certain crucial services when it comes to transferring money. This is where services like Payoneer have stepped in to fill the void. I'm sure PayPal will catch up in that regard, though.
This comment has been split into a new thread here.
I have always preferred PayPal. It seems like Guru, Upwork, Freelancer, etc all pay through it so it works out well. Ever since I got my first online gig in 2007, PayPal was the way to go and everyone used it. I recommend it.
This is my reason for sticking with PayPal. It's more widely used online, and the sources of income I have online strictly use it, which doesn't give me much wiggle room to use other payment methods. If I were diversifying the sites I used, I feel like it's be more of a hassle to get all of my money in one place at the end of each month.
If paypal is available in your country, paypal is the best payment gateway. There is no other payment service such as paypal. sadly paypal is not available in many countries and my home country happens to be one of these countries where paypal does not work. You can of course create a paypal account here, however, your account cannot receive money. Your account is send only, howeve,r you also cannot send money because paypal does not accept local cards and banks. If you cannot load money, how can you send money.
If they detect fraud, they wil lock your account. The accounts getting locked is a rare case.
I also use Paypal I haven't tried using any portals aside from Paypal. I'm still happy and satisfied with the service of Paypal they even call you if you have a concern about your accounts. Though, I'm also thinking another alternative because Paypal will change their policies these coming days. Hope there is another portal who can beat Paypal so we could choose better choices.
Paypal is the best. I'm glad I've continued using their service. I earn money online and they've consistently transferred the right amount to my bank account. I'm thankful for their dedicated service.
Certainly that Paypal is awesome when it comes to payment portals. I'm happy for you that you're also satisfied with their services. Same here I'm very much thankful for their services even now because despite their policies update my debit account here in my country is not affected by their transfer fee increase.
Glad to know that. Paypal always secures our money. It safely transfer all our hard earned cash to our deposit accounts. I'm grateful that it's still reliable after so many years.
I agree with the comments above. I haven't tried other payment portal such as good as Paypal, In fact, most of the payment method to some online job sites is through using paypal.
I've only used Paypal for less than a year. It is very helpful for me because I do freelancing online and I also pay for some goods using Paypal. I think it is the best way to receive money online because I think it is the most reliable out of all of the online services that offer this kind of system. Paypal has also been operating for a long time now and they have proven themselves to be a stable and a company that values their clients' security.
I think PayPal is one of the best because it offers convenience to its users, it's easy to use and very reliable, it's really my first choice. But for large sums of money I still transfer it to my local banks Visa Atm savings account just to be sure. I also have several debit cards linked to my PayPal account so that PayPal transfers would be fast and hassle free.
Yeah, it's compatible with almost every online paying site for services and transactions both as a buyer or a seller (or freelancer), and it can be easily converted to money in your local currency or directly linked to your bank.
PayPal looks like to be the best online payment portal as it's fully accepted by most sites in the world. Although there are some problems that I believe PayPal needs to tackle, one is trying to to expand PayPal's reach throughout other countries and also the issue of limiting accounts by the portal.
The The first site where I actually made money was called Helium. In 2010, I had made $360 on Helium, however, I could not withdraw Helium payment untl 2012. helium paid through paypal, however, paypal was not available in my home country. Since I could not withdraw my earning, I stopped working on helium. In 2012, I was accepted on hubpages apprentice program where I was paid $12 for one article Hubpages also paid through paypal and I did not have paypal. Then I found a way. I used my US friend's paypal acount for payment and she would be sending me payments through western union. This payment modality worked for a long time.
Yeah, you're right. Paypal should also have the standard service charges for their service and not depends on the countries. I think Asian countries has a little higher in service charges compare to the western countries.
PayPal works for me because it is something that everyone seems to have and seems to use. I also like the cards that come with PayPal for instant access to your money. They do charge fees though which is annoying. I really don't like the fees being taken out.
I receive money through paypal and I am quite satisfied. The only snag with Indians is that we cannot keep the money in our paypal account and it gets automatically transferred to our local bank account. I do not mind that as we can shop online by transferring money from our bank account to wherever it is needed.
I really like PayPal because of its being reliable and convenient to use, I am using this as a mode of payment from my online sites and I am happy for being safe and useful. I think PayPal is mostly used by most people around the world due to its very unique and convenient features.
I'm using Paypal for all my online transactions and so far I haven't had any bad experienced yet so it is still my preferred online payment gateway even though there are other options.
We are sailing together. I also use PayPal for all my online transactions, and it is the best. I earlier tried skill, but when they started charging higher fees when one is receiving $$$, I left them. With PayPal and mobile money transfer in my country, it is quick to get the cash.
I registered an account on skrill but I have not yet used it for any transaction. I registered because others said that it is better than people. Paypal also have charges when transferring to my local bank account. Until now I still using paypal. I just hope that one day paypal would also include cryptocurrencies.
Skrill was so cool and convenient back here. Withdrawals through mobile transfer were instant. They lost customers in our country when they started overcharging if you are receiving dollars. That gave PayPal a chance, and it only takes 2hours to receive money on my mobile phone.
In my own opinion Paypal is the most reliable payment portals because I still don't have negative experience on using Paypal. I don't have a bank account or credit card but still I can use Paypal to purchase online or spend my income from my online jobs in online markets. But the issue of locking a certain account I think there is a reason behind or just a trouble on system but I think they can fix it, because if they will hold your money or locked your account without any reason it is against the law, or you can file a case for that, because its your money and you are paying their services when you withdraw or they can use your money if you decide to keep it in your account so you have the right to make some actions or complain because its not what it supposed to be.
I love paypal, had been using it ever since 8 years ago. It is reliable and stable, never lose my money and the security, I must admit it is very strict and protect consumers right
Wow, you've been using their service for a long time! That's reassuring because I just started using them this year. It's good to know that a long-term user hasn't lost money while using their service.
But what if PayPal ceases to exist? What payment portal then would be a reliable solution? Most job sites prefer PayPal for convenience and has limited options.
I wish that PayPal would continue its service despite of having a higher transaction fee for transferring money to our respective bank accounts, I hope that it will not close just like what happen to payza a while ago wherein it needs to shutdown its services for certain countries for unknown reasons. I would still love love PayPal for so many reasons.
PayPal is an absolute juggernaut, and in my opinion, with good reason. Ever since I started earning money online, PayPal was the one and only service I preferred to use.
I've used websites which forced me to use other services such as Payoneer and Skrill, but I was quite unsatisfied with those services. It isn't that they are bad--Payoneer in particular is a fairly good service--but none have matched the ease and convenience of PayPal.
For example, I couldn't open a Payoneer account without connecting a bank account, which was extremely annoying and difficult in my country. PayPal on the other hand allows me to simply connect a debit card I opened with my bank, and I can transfer money directly to that individual card without having to include all of my bank info.
Things like that are what make PayPal a league above the rest.
For most of the freelance and the marketplace websites, the paypal and the payoneer seems to be the only right way. You can see that some of the time paypal may not be a good choice if the fees are high. But if the client wants to have dispute center, then you can see that paypal is one of the dispute handler in such case. So that seems to be the only option that I have seen.
Everybody expect to see paypal as a payment method anytime they are shopping online. paypal deleivery quality service but i personal don't like them because of the ban the placed on my country.
Yeah, I think that's the only problem about the Paypal. They are not allowed some countries to use their services, and also the payment price is depends on your country, if you want to transfer your paypal balance to your bank account the payment is a little more higher if you live in Asian countries.
Well I think it's hard to transfer to other online payment right now. Paypal is already well known in this business. I'm also using paypal for five to six years now and never encounter a problem. It's very easy to transfer funds to my bank account and in our country by using gcash instant withdrawal from paypal is very easy to do now.
I think there is amazing potential in online payment processing payment systems. They are not many options. I have to concur that at the moment paypal is the best. It has the widest reach globally. I think it is the preferred way of paying online because of its simplicity. All you have to do is press a button and money is received by email almost instantly. This is a genius way of transferring money. I think this is what crytocurrency is trying to emulate. In the next few years, I think this will be the major method for online, money transfer.
There have been options but they've come and gone. Paypal is still standing, because of the way they do business. They keep accounts safe, make transfers quick, and overall allow customers to move money anywhere they want at any time.
For me Yes, Paypal is the best way to receive money. Nowadays, the home based jobs or freelancer jobs are blooming in terms of receiving payments from the clients online you can easily access your Paypal account to received payments and pay bills without leaving your home.Actually Paypal help me a lot for my part time online job.
Yeah, you're right. Paypal helps a lot for those freelancers and who has some part time jobs. This is the most trusted and reliable I think. Without this paypal before, and the payment will directly to the bank account, I wonder how the cost of transaction fees.
In my experience PayPal is a great way for making transactions flexible. Receiving and paying money through PayPal is quite convenient in my experience. Although i have some minor issues like long postings and delayed transaction, but all are taken cared off. Overall PayPal is one of the most convenient and safest way of receiving money .
PayPal is the best way to withdraw your money into but that being said also, I do like to use Bitcoin as You can invest also in bitcoin. But, yes PayPal is so much easier and hassle-free for withdrawing your money. Because once it is in your PayPal you can also withdraw/transfer this into your bank straight away and within moments it is in your bank. Whereas if you were withdrawing from an external source straight to your bank normally you would have to wait between 3 to 4 days.
For me it is. The easiest way to receive money is Paypal. I also think it is the safest way. So far I have not had any bad experiences with Paypal, everything works properly. Personally, I am very pleased with the service. Also, many friends use Paypal to receive money and have never had any problems. I read somewhere that some people had problems but not directly with Paypal than customers or sellers. It also happened to a fake email from Paypal in which it says that the money was paid, but it is not. I recommend everyone Paypal, but also be careful.
Yeah, and there's no transaction fees if you want to transfer your money to another paypal account. Paypal to paypal transaction is very easy, and can transfer it in instant, and they will send you an email to confirm that.
It's great for several reasons, and not so great for others. I think the biggest downside is the fee structure, and how bad that side of things can be. It's not a problem if someone pays you via the friends and family option, but if they pay for goods and services you end up losing a certain amount of the cash in fees.
I do think though that their market share dominates and for a lot of people that's all they use, so it becomes something that is a super common payment method.
Paypal is the only payment processor being used by most sites I've joined so in my case, a Paypal account is a necessity and not a choice I can make. I've only tried Skrill once to withdraw my earnings from a site that had been blocked by Paypal but that would probably be the first and last time because I'm mo longer working on the site. They didn't charge anything for the first transfer transaction from Skrill to my local account but the charge for succeeding ones are quite hefty.
None of the sites I'm with are offering to pay with checks. I wouldn't want to receive an international check either because it usually requires 30 days clearing on top of the waiting time for the check to arrive. On the other hand, Paypal withdrawal can be instant and charge-free. My biggest online earning site takes care of the fees. I don't allow my earnings to stay too long at Paypal. The site pays me instantly upon request and I also withdraw it instantly unless I intend to use it to pay for a bill. I trust Paypal but there's no point in allowing my cash to sit on an online account.
I do wish that PayPal would start it's own online store, because that would really be a hit, I think PayPal should think of another service.
I know that in some countries, people have been using PayPal Atm Cards for a couple of years now, but it's not yet available in the Philippines, I do hope it becomes available soon because that would be very convenient.
That's a great idea, an online store would bring PayPal clients and subscribers new options. This could elevate online earnings and transaction and of course a much more lesser transaction fee. I know PayPal has a business type account with features like invoice and accounting. I just hope they consider your comment.
Thanks fishbate, I just think PayPal could really expand by having their own online store because that's s sure win for them, having access to hundreds of millions of PayPal users that can easily translate into billions in sales right? If I own PayPal thats what I'm going to do. Plus it would really be convenient for online workers like us to shop in a PayPal store.
Aside from Paypal, there's also crypto. I'm finding many people use this as an alternative to Paypal. Compared to other payment methods, payment through cryptocurrencies can be a cheaper way. Although it can be a little inconvenient especially for those that are not yet familiar with crypto.
I think it's really hard to use the crypto as payment. We all know how fast to change the value of certain cryptocurrenies. There're some situation instead of earning $60 worth of bitcoins, it could become less than $40 worth of bitcoin. when you receive your payment.
I've experienced this too. But sometimes it goes the other way and your $60 could be $80. It is good to check the BTCUSD pair price chart to see if the crypto you're supposed to receive as payment is bullish or bearish. Only take payment when BTCUSD is bullish to be on the safe side.
Yeah, you're right, with three to four days of transaction before you will receive the cryptocurrency as payment, the value is already change and most of the time is not favor to your expectation. If you don't need the money, and willing to wait. well this one is a good method of payment.
PayPal is one of the payment processor that is mostly used by companies in paying its clients or workers, it has been in a long period of time already in business that is why I really believe that it is the most convenient way to receive money either through online shopping or payment for freelancing job. I had never known any payment processor something like that of PayPal and I would be happy to use it for most of my transactions.
Yeah, I agree and the best part of it is all transfers are done in real-time. Ever since I used PayPal I haven't experienced any delays in money payments, credit, transfers, it's always automatic unlike other payment processors in which there are times that money isn't credited to my account automatically and I have to call or chat with their customer support along with whatever supporting evidence I have, these processors have employees who are trying to steal money from their customers that's why I stopped using other processors.
PayPal is recommend to use
Yeah, that's right. Most of the online earning sites required us to use paypal to receive payments, and paypal is already well known and pioneer about this system.
Whenever I discover a new earning site, I always look first if they pay via PayPal and if it's not then I won't work in it because sites without PayPal are either bogus or it really takes a long time to process payments. Unlike if it's through PayPal, most sites that uses PayPal are fast payers.
Yes it is the safest and best way to receive money and can use it for other payments or withdrawal into saving accounts
Yeah, that's right, I think the safest one. Because you will get the notification from your email and to your phone number, and if there's some changes happens to your account, they will send the notification also.
Locked for no reason? I have never had a problem with PayPal. That is the only one I use.
PayPal was already in the business for a longer period of time, its reliability and efficiency is already tested by most people worldwide. I am one of the who can guarantee how PayPal works, I really prefer this payment option other than its competitors because of some reasons. I think PayPal should continue to provide convenience and good service to everyone so that more people would patronize this kind of payment option.
Yes, i am agreed with all. PAYPAL is best to send and receive payments. I am using PAYPAL from last three years and i didn't find any issue incase of sending or receiving payment. I also want to tell that if you wany to check any site is legit or not, if that site accept payment /withdraw method PAYPAL them that site is 100% legit. Because PAYPAL only accepts real and legit sites...
You're right. That's the other thing to consider if you want to know if the sites are legit or not. The only problem is, some of the scam sites are using the name of paypal as way of payment even they're scams.
I think that PayPal is the most trusted payment processor nowadays because most legitimate businesses choose PayPal as one or as their preferred mode of payment. Also about 90 percent of online working sites chooses to use PayPal as their processor.
I do really think that PayPal is the best because of their security and the number of their users. It's also very reliable, I haven't seen or heard that their site has ever been down. Also PayPal is available in most countries and that makes it super convenient on the part of the user.
We cannot deny the fact that many people still trust and chooses PayPal as one of the best of the best payment processor even though the fees or charge are a bit higher than other payment processor. Maybe it is because of the fast and convenient service that PayPal offers to its clients which really makes them to build trust and loyalty to its members.
Your quite right about having higher fees than other processors but if you think about, what other processors are there with the same global audience as PayPal? Since PayPal is the most used payment processor by online job sites, I really think their charges are fair enough, it's either that or endure the charges of a bank transfer which cost so much more.
Yes, paypal is popular when it comes to online money transaction or money transfer. Most or a lot of freelancers used paypal as their platform because it is more easier and convenient to use than others. Sometimes other platforms has higher fees so I chose paypal for money transfer. you can either link it to your debit so that you will be able to get the cash.
PayPal is now getting noticed in my country, unlike 5 years ago when there's only a few people who has a PayPal account and most rely on their credit cards or bank accounts when it comes to international money transfers.
Nowadays PayPal is very convenient because people can withdraw money through atm's and can buy by using only a PayPal Email and Password in PayPal checkout counters. Also one can withdraw PayPal money through MoneyGram and others money processors.
One of the things I like about PayPal is its security, to me its unhackable since they tabs on what device I'm using and my location, whenever there's an unknown device detected and the access location is new, PayPal would notify and ask for my confirmation before any transaction would be processed. This is a good method and safety measure that PayPal is implementing.
Recently I had some trouble with PayPal and a local processor, it seems that my local processor which is GCash is now imposing a minimum transfer of $20 on all PayPal to GCash transactions and when I transferred $16 it was debited from my PayPal but not credited to my gcash. I did complain in both sites and it was credited to me after 2 hours. I really hate my local processor because it has a low conversion exchange rate and for imposing a minimum of $20 for every withdrawal, there was no minimum a week ago, they suddenly implemented it with no warning whatsoever.
As the receiver of the payment you have to be pragmatic. I sign up for whatever payment processor the employer wanta t use, which is usual Paypal. HOWEVER -- make sure you know the applicable rules. A lot of employers and freelancers break the terms of service to evade fees. It is not worth risking having your account closed for a few dollars.
PayPal is almost perfect but recently it made the withdrawal threshold much higher for transfers to my local processor. A month ago I could transfer as low as $0.50 to my processor but now the minimum threshold for transfers to my processor GCash is 20 times higher which is $20. This I think is unfair.
I think paypal are still the best. Most payment support paypal so it is less hassel for me. I've been using Paypal recently and not experiencing any issue.
Yeah me too. I just used paypal this year only but I have signed up last year I think. I haven't encountered any issue about paypal when it comes to transactions of money yet. I just heard this paypal from my classmate I think it was seven(7) years ago and she recommended me this and I was so lucky to find out about this paypal. Hopefully it will continue to have a smooth transactions in the future.
It's amazing how Paypal has remained strong for so long. We've gotten used to it as the years went by. Now we can't imagine not having it since many users depend on it for online transactions.
Yeah that's right and a big thanks to Paypal. A lot of online users or online businesses or work depends on Paypal when it comes to money transactions and this is really a big help for us that makes our work much easier.
I've tried other means of online transaction. Sad to say, they're not as seamless as Paypal. So I agree with you. They have the best service for online money transfer.
PayPal hands down is the best international payment processor I've used. Here in Southeast Asia it's really the only dependable processor that is used by a lot of freelancers and merchants.
That's true. It's backed up by many freelancers since they use it a lot. Online transactions are mostly done through Paypal. So it's become a necessity for pretty much anything paid through the internet.
Yes PayPal is the best .it has been a favourite of every freelancer throughout the world. It has steadily built it's reputation and has till now been able to retain its goodwill.
The payment process is seamless and almost perfect. There is no other process which is as reliable and as secured as PayPal. The customer service is also very good and you get a response to all your queries and doubts. Although sometimes the fees charged may seem a little higher but that is something I don't mind , given the security and reliability that PayPal offers.
PayPal is the best for me, but you can user Payoneer if PayPal is not available to that country. It is like PayPal, but second best.
I do use PayPal for all transactions. I have been using PayPal for some years now, and I have never encountered any problem. Again, I find the charges of PayPal much fair compared to those of Payoneer.
Is Paypal the best way to recieved money: As of now for me its yes because in my place paypal in the most recommended. Some encountered problem by linking but its nothing to worry because your money is still intact it will be back in your account.
I agree that there are countries where Paypal is not valid maybe because for security reasons regarding the policies of the government. As you said that you have been with Paypal for a decade already that means you have fully tested Paypal regarding the service. Now I wonder why you are still looking for another payment processing center when you have no issue with Paypal.
