Yes, you can and this is something that I test it not just read it somewhere and take it for granted.
Almost all old technique works this days if they have upgraded and adapted.
Do not take for granted all you read, make your own test and then jump to conclusions.

Doing a test on what you read is a good advice because when I first came to this site I was deluged with information regarding SEO methods. It was too difficult to learn SEO methods in a forum because of the conflicting comments that it was like having a debate on my mind. There are speculations that were presented like facts and there are myths that look like an authority post. Be discerning with what you read and the best is to test it so you will know if it really works.

I am not sure. I am still confused on the whole PR think. However, A link is a link. Even if it doesn't help your rankings. You still may be able to get some traffic from the site that you link to your site/blog.

The rank of a website has many factors considered and it is not only the links that matters. I actually don’t mind much the links be it no-follow or not because my main concern regarding the ranking of the website is the contents. When there is fresh contents regularly then the website is in good stead that its rank will be good and probably the link will land on the first page of the search list.
