This was a challenge when I was starting my freelancing career as I struggled to fix it between understanding what my work entails and how often I should be on social media.
Back then, I used to spend more than 8 hours daily on social media platforms such as Facebook chatting with friends as well as commenting on posts. However, the hours I spend on has reduced.
I now spend less time on social media because of my work. How often do you visit social media sites?
Well considering that I have a mobile device like most people, I use it often. To promote my brand, the site and stuff. I think any good business owner has to use it as often as possible. To promote.
That[s exactly what people who have business doing no a days. The advantage of having social media. It easier to promote your business. Just one click and you already have advertise your business. It's very advantageous to business owners because some don't need tarpaulins for their business to be known especially that most people are using social media.
So do I. I use social media more often for me to promote my business there.
That's a good idea because almost everyone in the world uses social media.
That is right. We should take advantage the social media. It is not just for entertaining us but also could help us in our business too.
I make use of social media everyday. I read news updates. I also connect with my loved ones through it.
That's right. Social media is useful and beneficial. I use my social media everyday to check my loved ones from afar and also to fetch some informations. However, there are times that I seldom use it because I have been busy in other stuff.
Me too. Basically, my social media interaction is to keep in touch with my loved ones. Eventually, I use it to get info on daily news and events, but in my regular basics, I just use them for personal purposes. When it comes to business, I have different social media accounts, and they're handled by schedule.
I agree with you, the fact that a majority of the population of the world has social media, and it is really a good platform to promote a product.
I visit my favorite social media sites 3 times a day or whenever I'm free. It usually takes me an hour to three hours a day surfing social media sites and posting content in it.
Well, I also used to spend a lot of my time on Social Media when I was in college. However, I still do spend some time everyday on Social Media basically to remain in touch with my friends and family. I tend to use Whatsapp more than Facebook or Twitter these days. With your online and offline work, it is sometimes difficult to spare time to remain active on Social Media.
Most students that I know are not really addicted to social media but they are often into it because they say that it is their diversion to relax their mind from the hectic studies of the lesson. When a student would spend most of his time in social media then that is tantamount to neglecting his duties because it is also needed to spend more time in the studies than in social media.
I spend a lot on my social media like everyday. Before going to sleep and and when I wake early in the morning, I always chck my social media. i don't it's like habit of me already always checking my phone. I usually check my phone if there are important messages sent on my messenger or on my other social media.
Me too, I regularly check my social media accounts in the morning and at night to post new content and to see what's happening to my groups and pages.
I also check my social media accounts regularly as it is my main communication with my friends and family. When I wake up and every time I am going to sleep, I usually check my phone for updates and important messages. I can say it is already a part of my daily routine.
I do that too. Since it's just one click away from our online freelancing jobs, it's easy to visit our social media accounts. Also when I wake up first thing in the morning, I never failed to check what's happening online.
Same here. Every time I wake in the morning that's what i do checking my messengers and Instagram.
me too, mostly because I check mails and chats and some posts too. I want to be updated.
Whenever I'm free or im finished with my work, I would make it a point to visit my pages and groups and that's about 2 hours daily 7 days a week. I'm really active on social media because I o have groups that rely on my posts and I don't want to disappoint them.
When I was not working yet as a freelancer most of the time I am spending much time on social media site because I find them to be addictive and really enjoying. But when the time comes that I have started working online, the time I spent on social media sites had been drastically reduced because I am now prioritizing my online jobs that the use of social media sites which is really great since it helps me to focus and earn more on my freelancing activities.
I know what you mean, there was a time I was really hooked on Facebook Chat. I would chat nonstop even when working. My wife found out and my chatting days are now over.
Very often! I rely on social media a lot to connect with my friends and family, and also for my correspondence with my classmates in the uni for our groupworks. I also course important announcements in the organization I'm heading via our social media groups. I would say I use social media at least 8 hours a day, too.
When I was not working yet as a freelancer most of the time I am spending much time on social media site because I find them to be addictive and really enjoying. I use social media every day but not to the extent that I use my whole day. I joined in different groups related to making money online and I just check for the updates that are possible for eaning. If I'm not doing important things online, I spend 1-2 hours on social media. But if there's something important I need to work on, I prevent myself from logging to my social media account to make sure that I could focus on what needs to be done.
Well for me i spend more time using social media platform. Because i don't have a work so my free time is alway's on social media, chatting with friend and reading post of other people. That's how i often use social media maybe someday when i got more matured and got a job maybe i spend less time in social media. But for now i spending a lot of my time in social media.
I'm sure you'll spend less time on it when you get work. Well, you can start now by acquiring a hobby or by studying diligently on a skill that you feel like will make you money. I'm not saying spending a lot of time on it is unproductive, but it's best to use your time wisely.
Currently, I live very far away from my friends right now, so I spend a lot of time on social media keeping in contact with them and seeing what they're up to in their daily lives. Social media is also very prevelant in my line of work- checking to see analytics, posting content, and answering questions for people. In total, I probably spend an average of four to six hours with social media tabs open on my laptop or computer with a combined amount of time spent on the website itself, probably two to three full hours. To be honest, I think that's too much time spent on those websites but it's such a part of society now, it's hard to avoid.
We are definitely on the same page. Just a week ago I'm wasting my time playing mobile games and scrolling through my social media and now everytime I wake I am already thinking of how much points I have made and what strategy I'm gonna use to improve the number of post I make a day.
I really found it hard to control my time using social medias. I usually spend my time scrolling through social medias, and I often sacrifice my time that I should be doing my work. In average, I think I am spending around 5 hours through my social media accounts. That is too much for me as I am a student and I am also working online. I am still looking for an effective way for me to control my usage of social media so that I could spend more time in working.
I’ve had times previously where I actually deleted the Facebook app off my phone because I felt like I was constantly checking my news feed. Maybe doing that might help, at least temporarily.
My day is not complete without checking my newsfeed. That's my way to check on my friend's and family's updates. What I did is I removed the shortcut widget from my homescreen. I noticed that I had lessen my usage of Facebook and it is quite effective tho.
It’s definitely hard to cut social media out completely when for many of our friends and family it’s the easiest way to keep in touch with them - so I understand!
I just hope that I could manage to control myself in using social medias so that I could focus more on working online. I also keep all of my inspirations strong so that I will always have the reason to fight and work.
I use social media multiple times a day. As one of my freelance gigs involved managing the Instagram and Twitter accounts for an organization it leaves me with no choice than to check them regularly.
I used social media specifically Facebook every day, because it's my form of entertainment and my communication as well.
Using facebook attracts us whenever we feel bored. It is good for socializing and communicating with our family and friends too.
Well, back in the days when Facebook was new, I was really into it, and I could use it for hours. But eventually my friends there started taking it like a confession room, and they started posting all the things they were doing daily, their relationship issues, and that became really annoying, so right now, I don't find it likeable anymore, and stopped using it. It just remind me of birthdays and that's it. In fact, I reduced all my social media, and only left about 2 or 3 of them, and for personal purposes only.
You are right. Sometimes talking personal things there make us not interested using it anymore. We should use it properly.
Some people use Social media like an ego boost, and that's awkward, annoying, and very wrong. So, is better to leave it for your business, and to keep in touch with loved ones, so that way you avoid all the fake perfect lives people tend to show off.
That is right. Some social media users are posting too sensitive and private photos and videos that would affect the young people.
I think I am always connected. And I am always available on facebook some of the time. I only check the instagram once in a while. So that goes to show you that social media involvement all the time can be good enough. I have personally learned that spending time too much has definitely affected my life. But I try to get the most out of the social media and end up spending more time in the excuse of freelancing these days. I have to change this.
I use social media everyday. Everyday, I visit my social media accounts many times. Well, even though I have to follow my schedule in freelancing, I still can manage to visit my accounts and scroll on the feed/home.
Me too, I visit it everyday and I enjoy even just seeing post from friends and just scrolling on my news feed.
So do I. I usually using my social media everyday. I love Instagram the most. It is so nice to see post of your friends and family there too.
I use the social media for an hour a day and more if needed only. Before, I end up spending a lot of time on it but now I do my best to prioritize my work and only made use of social media in relation to my work. I use social media for posting relevant ideas to my page and by promoting my business. Usually an hour is enough to answer messages and update.
When I was still on my early teenage years, I mostly spent at least 6-8 hours a day with my social media apps. However, after I turned 19, I became a little bored with it so I only use it for at least 20-30 minutes nowadays. It really helped me to focus more on my freelance jobs but unfortunately, YouTube became a bit interesting and so I kind of use it longer and it sometimes take a lot of my time.
How often do you make use of social media: I use social median in my free time, when i need to contact certain persons and when i recieved an important notification. I usually use facebook when i am alone and theres nothing i can do.
I am not a frequent user on social media. I naturally disconnect myself to it because of work. I need to have priority. I am no longer updated with my friends activity. I failed to interact in most case. But, I tend to check on my accounts to be active for I might use it one day.
I only visit them maybe twice a day and what I do is like things that I fancy liking. I don't feel the need to be updated as to how other people are doing and I mostly focus on what I do and what I need to do.
Sometimes when it comes to social media, you have to learn to ignore the somewhat useless posts in order to actually read or enjoy the more substantial ones.
I’ve actually hidden a number of friends from my newsfeed because of the constant amount of unnecessary posts they put up. Talk about feed-cloggers!
That is right. Many social media users are using it for them to instant famous. Posting nonsense are useless and should not be entertained.
For now I am using social media sites to know some updates regarding on my work and family as well, It is very useful on art since I can address the needs of my work and my family whenever I am accessing my social media sites during my idle time. I am not really spending much time on it since I do make a few visit on it everyday for some important reasons.
I am into Facebook and I have no active Twitter account and my Instagram account was created for testing purposes only. Unlike my friends who are in Facebook every time, I open my Facebook account once a day just to check on the people close to me who are residing abroad or in the province. I post once or twice a week when there is something interesting to post about. It’s not good to be into social media too often because I might get addicted just like some of my friends.
I find social media a great time waster. If you are a freelancer but do not get your clients from social media than I would highly suggest to stay away from it. Social media websites are basically designed to keep you on the site. A lot of the time, the average person spends up to 30 minutes in one session on social media websites. Think about all that time you could be doing something else.. there's a lot to do within a 30 minute time frame. You could learn something that will grow your value, work on your skills, update your services. I mean there is a lot you can do, and do not waste your time.
I rarely go on social media anymore, I completely despise it. The only time I even go on social media is if someone tags me in a post. That's basically it. Other than that I have no true purpose for it. I have often thought about deleting my accounts but my friends would probably get mad at me.. lol
This is the real fact. I guilty in this because i often to use social media. I think the creator of social media is like read their our minds. Lol
What you have said is true. Social media has a bad effects to our lives. Most of the time people did not notice how much they spend using it because they are well entertained of them. Time is precious and we should do something have value and important too.
As much as it pained me to read that, it’s true — I think it hit a nerve with me because I know I spend too much time some days on social media and I could be doing so much that’s more productive.
Same here. Being addicted using it makes us not productive in our daily lives. We should use it moderately so that we have time for other important things.
I do agree that if you don't have a set plan on what to do in social media, you'll get lost and will end up just wasting time. It's best to set your objectives first and stick with it until it's finished.
A few individuals who earn their living off social media are required to provide 6 hours minimum. My mother and father check once each day for 10 minutes. There are as many social media apps. Even if you spend 10 minutes on each, plenty of time is gone. Social media isn't life. So yeah, do not make it very important and don't be afflicted by fomo.
It’s hard to avoid social media if it’s part of your job role. I guess in those instances it really does take up a big chunk of everyday life. One of my freelance jobs is managing the twitter and Instagram for a business and even that as a side job keeps me busy and checking accounts daily.
I do have some pages and groups that I'm maintaining with daily posts, that's why i access Facebook 2-3 times a day of up to 2 hours per time.
I spend an hour or two on Facebook and Twitter. Those are the only social media sites I am active on. And I do that specifically because I know that very soon, I'll be doing some marketing on both sites. What I'm doing basically is ensuring my social media connections know that I like spending time online with them, build solid relationships first.
Afterwards when they start seeing links that point back to my blog, a number of them will click on them and probably buy what I'll sell them on the other side.
I suppose once I start doing more social media marketing I'll spend a lot more time on the sites.
Before I am always chatting online. Post this and that even though it's all non sense. But as i grew up, I tend to lessen my craving for doing these things which consume most of my time. Now I only post when needed and when I have to. Same with chatting, I only go online when it is important or have a short fun conversation with friends online.
I lessen my nonsense post online, but I still can't survive a day without checking my social media platforms.
It depends on what platform we’re talking about. Most people consider sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram when they hear the term “social media,” but I’m not all that fond of those sites. I personally prefer Reddit and YouTube as my social media platforms of choice.
In any case, I’m almost constantly on both of those sites. Being that I work online as a freelancer, I always have my browser open, and if my browser is open then I inevitably have tabs open for both Reddit and YouTube. There’s such an incredible amount of quality content on both sites that I can’t help but frequent them all the time.
I've looked more into reddit as of late. I've found some useful info on there which I utilize often. I don't post on there at all though.
I think most of the time I am using YouTube for different purposes and I usually spent a few hours on watching on it everyday because it is my favorite source of reliable information and entertainment as well during the times that I need to take a break form my freelancing sites to have a better and energetic mindset. It is great because it helps me to stay refresh and motivated for the day.
I spent my time using social media as my form of entertainment I guess 1-3 hours a day.
That's much shorter than most people I know. They're like constantly on there. Still, it's best to limit our time spent there as much as possible. Life is best celebrated in the real world than the online social sphere.
I use it almost every day. But not in an obsessive way. I don't rely on it to pass the time by. I'm just using it to communicate with friends and relatives. I prefer YouTube when it comes to entertainment. There are lots of interesting videos online.
I can say that I now spend less time than the usual in social media because. Ever since I engage in freelancing I reduce my time in social media and have spend more time in more important things.
Same with me. Though there are times that I go to social media out of boredom and stress the work has in freelancing, I still prioritize my work.
that's really good for you, I hope that will last for long and good luck to your freelance career.
I am pretty much active on social media lot these days. And in fact most of my learning is through the social media websites. It not only helps me understand some good things about the business and freelancing. But new way of networking that works out here. I prefer making use of the social media for lot of things like that. I try to avoid the drama if possible.
That's one if the advantage in social media, sometimes you learn from it.
Indeed lot of things to learn. like 2 minute DIY stuff. I think that is one of my favorite. And it does help me in everyday things. I get to understand more of social media and other life skills in that case as well.I think social media takes more effort in the time consumed to watch this.
Sometimes I am using social media sites whenever I have something to sell or offer at the public, I used social media sites to advertise certain product or services since knew that it is an effective way to reach thousands of people everyday. It is free and very convenient to use which makes me to choose it than paying for some companies for some advertisement that are too expensive sometimes.
The only upside to hiring a professional advertising company is that they'd probably offer more manpower. So your brand would cover more ground, a lot quicker.
True, social media is really helpful in business but sometimes it can ruin a business too, just one bad review can ruin everything.
I use Social media everyday but I try to limit myself and avoid using all of my time on Social media. I still have to focus on earning money and other important matters. I also make sure that the use of Social Media is an advantage for my job.
Luckily for you because you can limit/control yourself. While I honestly get sidetrack sometimes and instead of working I waste my time in social media doing nothing but look for dank memes.
I have stopped using Facebook for sometime now. I am more active on Twitter and LinkedIN. I like twitter's content and its interface. There are many people on Twitter whom I admire. Also, I am active on LinkedIN. It's a beautiful platform for professionals and I enjoy reading motivational content on it. I make sure I keep my profile up to date so that I can get relevant job alerts. I have also tried Google+ but haven't found it interesting. I am occasionally active on Instagram and I upload some interesting pics of mine and also some of nature's beautiful pictures.
I have been using LinkEd for a while now, and I honestly think that it is a really good website. It is less toxic than other social media platform and you will learn a lot from there, lastly, the community in LinkEd are really friendly.
I also use social media for my work. I spend quite a bit of time on it. I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to find out what’s trending and create marketing campaigns around this fact. In the evenings I sue social media for entertainment. It is very easy for social media to be a distraction when you are working. It is not uncommon to find that most employers block social media sites in their offices because of this.
I do too, but sometimes I get sidetrack and instead of working I am stalking my friends or watching funny videos and sharing memes.
Social media for me is not so much a platform for amusement as it is a platform for communication. The most of my time on social media is spent on whatsapp where I discuss business and sometimes chat with family and friends. Facebook offers me the chance to showcase some of my work and to have as many people as possible see it.
I agree. It used to be all about communicating. That's what chats and posts were made for. But now it's become a platform for many other things. Like games and promoting businesses. You can't really avoid that since people are looking to grow their source of income.
To be honest with you, social media is fun for me, I use it for both personal and business reasons (I have a group with 6k audience). Lately, I log in twice a day on Facebook and browse it for 15 minutes.
Long time ago, when I had a lot of spare time, browsing social media was like an addiction for me, and it affected me pretty badly. I even had a depression. But thank God I grew out of it.
That's really nice. A lot of people are still hung over social media. So I'm glad someone was able to let go of it. I hope others can do the same.
I mostly just browse it during my free time. I don't spend all my time there since there are better sites on the internet.
I am envious that you can control yourself from staying and just browsing in your account. Honestly, if I open my account I probably stay for the rest of the day just checking some stuff. Luckily I have works to do.
I have an account that serves as my business and freelancing account. I am the person who wouldn't want to expose my information about myself. I just make title for my business and I also invite some of known sources to be able to make money out of internet.
Me too, even in my personal account I rarely put info about me, and there are some but it is private and only my friends can see it.
Sometimes I am browsing with my Facebook account to see some trending videos and moments so that I can easily be updated on it. I spend around 2- 3 hours everyday so that I will not missed any single moments that I really want to know for my family and friends.
I also use social media for entertainment. Watching Movies and Anime in YouTube and Facebook. I would spend a minimum of 2 hours in it when watching films.
I usually used social media sites for me to feel entertained at sometime for doing a lot of work in my offline and online works. It is one of my stress reliever whenever I feel so much stress and it helps me a lot so that I can easily get motivated to work again.
I use social media every time to check if there are important messages from my work. I also use it to entertain when I'm bored or to kill the time.
Just like you, I've been trying to check my social media whenever I want to kill some free time. It's a way to avoid being on that fake living world, and spend more time working, or talking with my friends or family, or doing something real for me and my time, instead of just watching somebody else's life.
I used to spend almost the entire day on social media while doing things and chores. These days I limit my interactions to close friends maybe it's because I'm busy with my writing and I'd rather spend time on that rather than chat away my day.
Before, I almost use it everyday because I don't have anything to do, but now I do a lot of things like going to the gym, train in MMA, so today I just use it when I have nothing else to do and I wanna see what's happening in the world and also I connect with my loved ones through messenger.
Honestly, I think that's the best way to use your social media. Taking care of yourself and your stuff, and then take some time to check them out. Nowadays, people tend to do the opposite and rely on social media to live their lives. It seems egocentric, and it's a fake side of your real life.
Facebook seems horrible to me, badly designed and bloated and full of updates from work colleagues etc that I really don't care about. I do use twitter, somewhat socially but I like it as a personal news feed, I can follow the people/websites that post about things I am interested in and it's easier than visiting all the websites.
